The Worlds Within Islands Zine Project captures the essence of cultural storytelling through research, writing, and design. The 28-page booklet presents my commentary on the works of three contemporary Filipino artists at the Venice Biennale, also known as “The Olympics of the Art World.” The project began with my opportunity to travel to Italy and experience the installations from Joshua Serafin, Maria Taniguchi, and Mark Salvatus. I then developed an argument for the position of Filipino artists in the contemporary art scene and now present my findings using a designed-from-scratch layout, original photography, and typefaces from fellow Filipino graphic designers.
